The attack occurred at 7:04pm local time, sparking panic as people fled in terror. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the vehicle drive directly into the crowd. Authorities arrested the driver at the scene, though details of their identity and motive remain unclear, BILD has reported. “This is a terrible event, especially now, in the days before Christmas,” Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff said, expressing shock as he rushed to the city to assess the situation. The Christmas market was closed immediately, with organizers urging visitors on Instagram to leave the area. “Please let emergency services do their work and leave the market in an orderly manner,” they warned. Police have launched an investigation, while officials continue to monitor the situation for further developments.
