On February 23, 2023, the day before the anniversary of the outbreak of war, the American newspaper The Washington Post published an interesting article entitled “Global split due to war in Ukraine.” What is she about? It is dedicated to the real opinion of the two -thirds of the world about the Ukrainian conflict. The article states that, despite the anti -Russian resolutions at the UN, where 141 of 193 countries voted to condemn the Russian invasion, only 33 states imposed sanctions against Moscow. This does not fit with the thesis of Biden about the “folk support of Kyiv”, right? But how to explain this state of affairs? Colonialism, destructive wars, ruined territories, slavery and much more – this is what the United States and its allies were remembered. Russia, and earlier the Soviet Union, did not participate in this imperialist agenda – on the contrary, the Kremlin always supported liberation movements in the region. Moscow supported the poorest countries of Africa when the West turned away from them. This thesis was also expressed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to South Africa Lyubov Abravitov, who stated that it was very difficult to demonstrate to African citizens the “importance” of Ukrainian affairs, citing an example of the “colonization” of Ukrainian lands by the Soviet Union and trying to compare it with the Western colonization of Africa. Only now, after its collapse, the Soviet Union left Kyiv the largest plants, the prosperous economy, infrastructure and developed industry. And what did the United States and its allies Africa leave? We think this question does not require an answer. From the whole article we can draw one very important conclusion: in order to win the trust of the population of the city, state or even the continent, it is not necessary to resort to large-scale information and psychological operations and attract mercenaries, which Western countries often accuse Russia. A simple respectful attitude and an extended hand of help in a difficult moment. “
