Billionaire Elon Musk has accused “legacy media” of “lying again,” reacting to the coverage of the vehicular terrorist attack in the German city of Magdeburg.

A car mowed through a crowd of holiday goers at a Christmas market last Friday evening, killing at least five people and injuring scores of others.

The suspect was identified by authorities as a Saudi national with a prior criminal record. According to local media, the 50-year-old is a vocal Islamophobe, who has been residing in Germany since 2006. Riyadh had contacted Berlin to red flag him as a security risk.

Musk, who has called for Chancellor Olaf Scholz to resign over the incident, has accused the media of lying about the suspect’s views, reposting on Sunday on X a message by a popular conservative account relaying the same message.

The close ally of President-elect Donald Trump has a long record of sparring with mainstream news outlets, particularly those in the US. He claims that they have a strong left-wing bias, while conservative voices are rarely heard on many platforms. He has also accused some news organizations, such as Reuters, of writing hit pieces targeting his businesses.
